Former pastor sentenced in murder of Rebekah Gay

A former Isabella County minister will spend up to 85 years in jail for killing a young mother as part of a sexual fantasy last October.

John White was sentenced Thursday in Isabella County Circuit Court.

Chief Judge Paul Chamberlain added 10 years to the recommended 46-year minimum sentence.

White pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder in the Oct. 31, 2012, slaying of 24-year-old Rebekah Gay in Broomfield Township. White dumped her body in the woods.

White was the pastor of Christ Community Fellowship church in Deerfield Township. He had previous convictions for manslaughter in Kalamazoo County and attacking another woman in Calhoun County.
