
FLINT, Mich. - Flint Police has wrapped up an investigation involving the shooting death of a 20-year-old female Burton resident.
The victim, in this case, Alicia Jackson-Skaggs, has been pronounced deceased, according to the Flint Police Department.
Details in connection with this investigation are as followed:
Investigators responded to the 4200 Block of Miller Road for a shooting.
Officials say when officers arrived on the scene, they learned that an altercation had taken place between the victim and her ex-boyfriend along the Miller Rd. corridor.
According to police, several shots were fired by the suspect, and the victim was struck while she was a passenger in a vehicle. Police say the male suspect, a 22-year-old City of Flint resident was later located by police and interviewed by Flint Township investigators.
Police say the suspect's mother, a 46-year-old City of Flint resident, was also taken into custody due to her involvement in this incident.

“This was a terrible tragedy that occurred on one of the most prominent commercial strips in all of Genesee County,” said Prosecutor Leyton. “I want to credit the Flint Township Police Department and supporting agencies for their expeditious handling of the investigation in this case,” he said.
He continued, " There is just too much gun violence as people seem to think this is the wild west and using guns is the only way to settle disputes”
