FLINT, Mich. (WEYI) — A security guard was shot and killed over a face mask, according to Prosecutor David Leyton.

Several witnesses say Calvin James Munerlyn, who was working as a security guard at the Family Dollar in Flint, and a female got into a verbal altercation after Munerlyn told the female's daughter she needed to wear a mask inside the store.

The prosecutor says the woman spit on Munerlyn and was forced to leave.

Leyton says a short time later, the woman returned with the two men identified as 44-year-old Larry Edward Teague Jr., her husband, and 23-year-old Ramonyea Travon Bishop, her son.

Both men entered the store and confronted Munerlyn about disrespecting their wife/mother.

According to authorities, Bishop pulled out a gun, shot Munerlyn in the head and took off.

"We believe we have probable cause for all the crimes charged today," said Leyton.

The three suspects according to the prosecutor are charged with multiple charges, including first degree premeditated murder, which is punishable up to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Two suspects remain at large and one suspect is in custody, according to the Leyton.

Police say they are looking for 44-year-old Larry Edward Teague Jr. and 23-year-old Ramonyea Travon Bishop, the prosecutor says they are armed and dangerous.

Michigan State Police Lt. David Kaiser says cars were dispatched to the store on Fifth Avenue in Flint on Friday at 2 p.m.

Munerlyn died at the hospital according to police, he was 43-years-old.

Leyton says for a situation to escalate to this magnitude is unimaginable and heartbreaking for the community.

"We simply cannot devolve into us versus them mentality. We really need to make a commitment as a community that we are committed to doing the things necessary to allow us to stay healthy and turn the page on this crisis all together. We should do this for Calvin Munerlyn who has lost his life needlessly and senselessly," Leyton stated.

He says the suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
