Erik Kostrzewa was born and raised here in Michigan; spending much of his life in the suburbs of Detroit. Erik attended the University of Michigan and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Earth Systems Science and Engineering with a concentration in Meteorology.
His first on-air job was straight out of college in Lansing, Michigan at WLNS-TV. After a few years, he moved to Grand Rapids to continue his career at FOX17 news. His most recent stop was with WeatherNation in Colorado where he covered the weather in all fifty states.
Erik knows firsthand how crazy the weather can get here in the mitten!
He definitely has an interesting last name too which comes from his Polish descent. If you are wondering how it is pronounced, the easiest way to say it is “Ka-Stree-Va”.
In his free time, he appreciates a good hike in the cooler fall weather, skiing in the winter, boxing, golfing when the weather cooperates and most importantly football season (Go Blue!). Erik is thrilled to be back in his home state at bringing you the ins and outs of the Mid-Michigan forecast.
