Rachel Louise Just joined the News Channel 3, WWMT team in November 2020 as a statewide political reporter.
Rachel comes to Michigan from Montana, where she spent two-and-a-half years as a multimedia journalist with ABC FOX Montana in Bozeman. During her time in the Big Sky State, Rachel had the opportunity to cover a wide range of important stories, including the COVID-19 pandemic, historic wildfires, flooding, and economic disparity. She also covered equally important stories such as a llama being rescued from Yellowstone National Park and a semi that overturned carrying hundreds of millions of bees.
She also had the chance to cover national figures including Vice President Mike Pence, Donald Trump Jr., Kimberly Guilfoyle, presidential candidate Steve Bullock, and Sen. Lindsey Graham. She was also part of a one-on-one interview with President Donald Trump aboard Air Force One just days before the pivotal 2018 midterm election.
Rachel was part of her local search and rescue team while in Montana and enjoys getting the chance to serve her community off-air.
You might recognize Rachel from her five minutes of viral fame as a reporter who can't shoot a basketball (or remember the name of a goal).
A native Hoosier, Rachel spends most of her free time outdoors, hiking, camping, climbing, or anything else that gets her into the fresh air. Always by her side is her loyal puppy, Lewis.
Rachel graduated from Purdue University with a double-major in communication and theatre-acting (she was not on the basketball team, shockingly) and is a proud Boilermaker.
Rachel is passionate about telling the stories and struggles of people in her community, so please reach out and say hello! Insider political tips? Got a story you want to share? Send it all to rjust@sbgtv.com.
